Carry the Torch:
For fans of melodic yet innovative Hardcore.

Polar Bear Club:
They are really hard to categorize and that's what makes them good. If I had to try I would say: Against me! meets Jimmyeatworld sprinkled with a good amount of hardcore attitude.

Defiant Heart:
They are a little more Straight up Hardcore Punk but with a good melodic background. Arlington is worth listening to from beginning to end. You will find hidden musical gems on this record.

MUSIC NEWS: Norma Jean vs the Anti mother NEW CD

Norma Jean has always been one of my favorite Hardcore bands. While they were more popular four or five years ago, they've grown to become a better, darker, deeper band. Some will argue that they are not as hard as when there first album came out. I think that they still can create some pretty heavy tunes even if they explored the more melodic aspect of the genre.

The new album just came out. For what i heard streaming on myspace NORMA JEAN

I would recommend it as a buy.

Despised Icon :

Montreal Heavy hitters come back with a stunning video from there latest full-length : The ills of modern man. The video is directed by the amazing Jonathan Desbiens (Jodeb film).

Review-A-gogo : Marcellos Grand Reopening show

Saturday July 26th was the night of the Re-opening of Marcello's with performances by Starring Janet Leigh and Romeo Liquor store.

So the bar changed name and people came to celebrate the event. We only got time to say hi to our friends that Starring Janet Leigh took the stage.

The complex Math-metal band offered a powerful performance to the unsuspecting crowd. although the venue was ill-fitted for such aggression and heavy shreds, the band pleased us with a more melodic incarnation of them self. The interlude of ambient almost dreamy yet progressive and complex structures where springboard to the mathematical assault of sound, trademark of the band. They proved once again that even with only one guitar playing they could bring it hard.

Then a couple of beers later, we were victims of the rock and roll assault of Romeo Liquor store. The ''balls to the walls'' style of rock that these guys play was greatly appreciated with the aptly intoxicated crowd of the bar. They stormed us with pure rawk mayhem. Even doing a raunchy cover of the classic from the Sweet ''Ballroom Blitz'' (also made popular by the movie Wayne's world if you weren't on the planet in the 90's).

All and all it was a great night of friends, music and Rock attitude. All of it commandeered brilliantly by the master of ceremony Marcello.
